QF’s ‘Siraj’ Ramadan series fosters Islam-based and educational values among children
Qatar Foundation’s edutainment TV series Siraj is launching a special Ramadan edition to introduce children to the five Names of Allah and their meanings.
The new episodes will air on 1 March and continue throughout Ramadan – on Fridays and Saturdays each week – and can be watched on Qatar TV. Each episode will also be posted on the Siraj YouTube channel, allowing children and families to watch and engage with the educational content in an interactive and enjoyable way.
The upcoming Ramadan series offers an interactive and engaging learning experience for children, combining captivating storytelling with 3D graphics. It aims to inspire young audiences to understand the meanings of the Names of Allah, including Ar-Raheem (The Most Merciful), Ar-Razzaq (The Provider), As-Sami’ (The All-Hearing), Ash-Shafi (The Healer), and Al-Wahid (The One and Only), through a simplified and engaging approach that enhances comprehension and instills faith-based values in an interactive and accessible way.
Azla Al-Qahtani, Head of Culture and Identity at Qatar Foundation’s (QF) Pre-University Education, emphasized that Siraj’s Ramadan episodes are designed to nurture Islam-based values and strengthen children’s spiritual connection.
“One of the key focuses of these episodes is helping children connect with their Creator by learning about the Names of Allah and their meanings, deepening their faith and understanding of Islamic beliefs in a way that is suitable for their age group.”
Al-Qahtani explained that presenting these concepts to young audiences is a challenge due to their abstract nature. Therefore, they have been translated into visually engaging scenes, making them easier to grasp in an interactive manner.
“The episodes provide a clear and simple explanation displaying each name at the end of the episode to aid in memorization, helping children learn five of Allah’s Names throughout the month of Ramadan.
“The episodes go beyond imparting religious knowledge; they also instill ethical values in children through a world full of excitement and smooth, engaging dialogues that align with their way of thinking. This contributes to shaping a generation that is aware of its values, has strong faith, and is equipped with the confidence and courage to face life’s challenges.”
Al-Qahtani highlighted that the interactive content in the series serves as a valuable tool for educational enrichment, aligning with school and mosque curricula. This helps reinforce religious principles while promoting Arabic language development in a comprehensive learning environment.
“This special season coincides with the holy month of Ramadan, offering an opportunity to enhance spiritual and Islam-based atmospheres while strengthening children’s connection to their religious identity. Through content that reinforces the Arabic language and Islamic identity, the series helps instill Islamic values in an engaging and interactive way.”
