Ulviyya Mahmud, Editor-in-Chief of
NARGIS Magazine and author of many unique art projects, is the ideological
inspirer and author of the project. Her main goal is to promote Azerbaijani
culture worldwide.
The uniqueness of the project lies in the fact that it was
entirely created by Azerbaijanis.

The project “Əlifba. A Cultural
Alphabet” was launched in 2019, with its first presentation held in
Istanbul. The information in the book was available in four languages:
Azerbaijani, Turkish, English, and Russian.

On 20 June 2024, the book “Əlifba:
A Cultural Alphabet” was presented at the Azerbaijan Cultural Centre in
Berlin expanding its reach with translations into German, Spanish, and Italian.
Its primary aim is to promote the history, cultural heritage, and Azerbaijani
language.

The event was attended by Azerbaijan’s
Ambassador to Germany, Nasimi Aghayev, as well as representatives from the
fields of culture and fashion, designers, influencers, bookstore owners,
representatives from other embassies, and members of the Azerbaijani diaspora.

In 2025, the project will continue its
global journey, with additional translations into French and Arabic. The first
destination this year is Doha, where the event will take place on February 19.
One of the highlights of the event will be the book’s presentation on a
stunning crystal stand, created by sculptor Teymur Garibov. This unique display
will offer guests an immersive exploration of Azerbaijani culture and history
through the pages of the book.

A documentary film “History in Letters”
will also be shown at the event. This documentary animated drama introduces
viewers to Azerbaijani culture and history through the prism of the alphabet.
It is not just an animated documentary but a philosophical quest that immerses
the viewer in an exploration of truth and the power of love for art. The film
was directed by Meran Ismailsoy, written by Agamehdi Abidov, and animated by
Kanan Sheykhzamanli. The illustrations for the book were created by artist
Orkhan Huseynov.

In addition, a special showcase of
Azerbaijani national costumes from different regions will be presented on
mannequins, offering guests a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of
Azerbaijan.

As part of the celebration, guests
will also have the opportunity to enjoy Azerbaijani cuisine, with a selection
of traditional dishes, and receive exclusive gifts, adding an extra touch of
cultural warmth to the occasion.
The event will be held with the support of the Embassy of
Azerbaijan in Qatar, as well as our partners, PASHA Holding and the Azerbaijan
Trading Corporation in Qatar.

The book will then be presented in
Morocco, Barcelona, London, and other cities around the world.
