In a move to ignite a passion for reading and celebrate the written word, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) in Qatar has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative – a Mobile Library on wheels. This innovative project, a collaborative effort with the esteemed Mowasalat (Karwa) Company, made its debut at Um Al Amad Model School for Boys on April 23rd, coinciding with World Book and Copyright Day.

The Mobile Library’s mission is to create an immersive and captivating educational atmosphere that transcends the boundaries of traditional classroom settings. By diversifying reading methods and fostering social connections among students, this mobile literary sanctuary aims to redefine the learning experience.

Maha Zayed Al Ruwaili, Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs at MoEHE, expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “This Mobile Library aligns seamlessly with our ministry’s commitment to nurturing a love for reading and promoting a culture of lifelong learning.” She emphasized the significance of maximizing leisure time for students through purposeful activities that enrich their personalities, language proficiency, and knowledge acquisition.

Beyond the confines of four walls, the Mobile Library promises an exhilarating and stimulating learning journey. Students will have the opportunity to indulge in recreational reading, engage in thought-provoking dialogue sessions, participate in collaborative group readings, and immerse themselves in a multitude of captivating events. These experiences are designed to forge lasting bonds of camaraderie and foster social cohesion among peers.

Al Ruwaili commended Mowasalat’s pivotal role and partnership with the ministry in realizing this pioneering initiative. “This Mobile Library exemplifies the power of collaboration and community engagement,” she remarked, expressing her gratitude for the company’s unwavering support of the ministry’s programs and community-driven endeavors.

Ahmed Hassan Al Obaidli, Acting CEO of Mowasalat (Karwa), echoed the sentiment, highlighting the initiative’s alignment with the shared vision of transforming the learning experience into a one-of-a-kind journey. “Through this Mobile Library, equipped with an array of books, interactive games, teaching aids, and cutting-edge tablets, we aim to contribute to the accessibility of learning and enjoyment,” he stated.

The Mobile Library itself is a marvel of engineering and design. Capable of accommodating up to thirty inquisitive young minds, it boasts two levels of literary exploration. The first floor is a veritable oasis of books, learning resources, and interactive games accessible through smart tablets, while the second floor features a viewing area equipped with a state-of-the-art smart TV screen. Here, students can engage in interactive quizzes that delve into Qatar’s rich history, landmarks, rulers, and even the iconic World Cup stadiums.

To ensure the success of this pioneering endeavor, MoEHE conducted a pilot study in July 2023, visiting several centers to gauge students’ interest and refine the Mobile Library’s offerings. With its carefully curated content and strategic deployment plan, the Mobile Library is poised to traverse Qatar, visiting public and private schools, summer camps, renowned landmarks, and designated educational zones.

As the Mobile Library embarks on its literary odyssey, it promises to ignite curiosity, foster a love for learning, and create unforgettable moments that will shape the minds of Qatar’s future generations.
