Qatar Meteorology Department Issues Warning for Thunderstorms, Strong Winds
The Qatar Meteorology Department has issued a severe weather warning for the evening of April 21, advising residents to exercise caution due to the anticipated thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds and rough sea conditions.
In its daily weather report, the department cautioned that thundershowers are expected to roll in later tonight, potentially bringing powerful wind gusts reaching up to 25 knots (approximately 46 km/h) in some areas across the country.
Offshore, the situation is expected to be particularly precarious, with wave heights forecasted to surge from 2 to 4 feet (0.6 to 1.2 meters) to as high as 8 feet (2.4 meters) during the thunderstorms. Mariners and coastal communities are advised to take necessary precautions and avoid venturing into open waters during this period.
During the daytime hours, the weather is expected to be moderate to relatively hot, with partly cloudy skies and the possibility of scattered rain showers, some of which may be accompanied by thunderstorms. Winds are predicted to blow predominantly from the southeast to east, maintaining light to moderate speeds.
Temperature-wise, the country can expect a low of 20°C (68°F) and a high of up to 39°C (102°F), according to the meteorological reports.
The Qatar Meteorology Department has urged residents to stay informed about the latest weather updates and to follow safety guidelines issued by relevant authorities. Precautionary measures, such as securing loose objects and avoiding outdoor activities during the anticipated thunderstorms, are strongly recommended.
As the peninsula braces for potentially severe weather conditions, the well-being and safety of the public remain the top priority for the nation’s meteorological experts and emergency response teams.
